Stella Maris Cistercian Monastery is a Cistercian monastery in Sri Lanka and a daughter house of Heiligenkreuz Abbey, Austria. Rooted in the Rule of Saint Benedict, we live a life of prayer, work, silence, and community, seeking God through the timeless Cistercian tradition.
Dedicated to Our Lady, Stella Maris (Star of the Sea), our monastery is a place of worship, contemplation, and spiritual hospitality, welcoming all who seek peace, prayer, and a closer relationship with Christ.

Our Mission
At Stella Maris Cistercian Monastery, our mission is to seek God
through a life of prayer, contemplation, community, and faithful
observance of the Rule of Saint Benedict.
Rooted in the Cistercian tradition, we dedicate ourselves to the
celebration of the Sacred Liturgy, silent prayer, manual work,
and hospitality, offering our lives for the glory of God and the
spiritual good of His people.
