The heart of our daily life is the solemn celebration of the Liturgy of the Hours, also known as the Divine Office. It is the principal work (Opus Dei) of our monastic calling, to which nothing is preferred.
At the heart of Stella Maris Cistercian Monastery is a timeless rhythm of prayer: the solemn celebration of the Liturgy of the Hours, also known as the Divine Office. Seven times a day—from the early stillness of dawn through the night—the sound of the monastery bell gathers our community into the chapel to lay aside all temporal duties and offer praise through sacred psalmody, Holy Scripture, and the ancient, enduring prayers of the Church.
These seven sacred hours sanctify the passage of time, turning every day into an unceasing offering of praise and intercession for the Church, our nation, and all humanity. Anchored by the Holy Eucharist, Eucharistic Adoration, and silent personal prayer, this continual worship forms the spiritual foundation and heartbeat that breathes life into every ministry we undertake.
